Training at Pine BJJ is a blast to say the least. The instructor teaches useful and in depth techniques, makes sure what’s being taught is done safely, and doesn’t separate himself from the class during rolls and sparring activities. He’s always in the middle of the action giving advice, direction and insight. Love training here!

If you’ve done martial arts at other gyms or in other places you know there are good gyms and bad gyms. This is a good gym. It is not gimmicky, and the instructor will not try to sell you promotions or try to sell the class as something it’s not. Just come train, learn, and have a good work out. The classes have something for everyone. Matt’s approach to teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu incorporates concepts and adaptability rather than solely relying on hard and fast techniques. This allows you to find a style that works for you.

Ladies, come try this if you want to build confidence, strength, mobility, and community.

Parents, sign your kids up if you want them to build confidence, strength, balance, body/muscle control, and friendships.

At Pine BJJ you're going to get a great instructor who is passionate about his art and very well educated with what he teaches. From the position of your posture all the way down to how to place your thumb on a grip.  Everyone is friendly and wants nothing more than to see themselves and others succeed. I recommend this gym to anyone wanting to get into BJJ and self defense.

The coach, Matt Shields, teaches in a way that’s understandable and modern. You will learn fundamentals in a way that’s not just repetitive drilling. The members who attend vary widely in skill and are a great group of men and women. Highly recommend!!
